Destination HeritageFaience Collection
George Wood, an Englishman, set up the first pottery workshop in the town in 1797. Produced in the XVIIIth and XIXth centuries, ceramics were made from white clay (called Faïence fine) and red clay (faience épaisse) and called “culs noirs”. The collection contains more than 250 items.
